I am heartily sick of schools who appear to believe that teachers are highly trained professionals who deserve decent salaries plus added payments for any extra duties they undertake but that library staff need no qualifications, training or experience, can do the job in a reduced number of hours per week, never need to work in the evenings or during the holidays, can supervise 60 students at a time and should count themselves lucky to get paid half a teacher’s salary without even a cost-of-living increase in the last two years.
